Been reading about Leopold Gursky in his prime role as "disappearing" old man in Nicole Kauss' second novel, 'The History of Love'. The books reminds me of how we all want to be seen and not live and die alone. I am touched by the fact that many of us in this so-called billion populated planet; with internet and wireless connection, still seem to feel so alone...isolated...sad. The book is also about a love found while young, kept and nurtured...despite not realising the love...and yet it finds a way to keep existing, in many forms and manifestations. I laugh, cry and wonder along with Leo and Alma. Their story is like of many, and yet unique to them. I wish I could write as evocatively as Krauss. I am mid-way in my reading. Read a bit more from this Wiki. I'll edit this post when I am done, but this one is definitely worth reading. I believe it is going to be a film soon, too. Here's a series of reviews about the book...and many (who have read it) agree with words piognant, charming, fresh, a novel meant to be read more than once. O ano pa ang hinihintay nyo...basa na! ![]()
